Someone Please Explain

Why are there only four games today? I was under the impression that the All-Star break was three days long. And you wonder how things like this end up happening.

What do you think the true odds would be set at for the NL West winner having a sub .500 record?
20% or so?

Sir-

There's only four games because it's a Thursday, so a game today means a four-game series with a day game to wrap it up, since the MLB schedule always has everyone in action over the weekend. There's a couple scheduled four-game series every season, but they're certainly not gonna opt for one when the alternative is to give most players an extra vacation day.

I understand that, but it didn't stop them in the past. In 2006 they cut it down to seven games, then six last year, and now four. I am not a fan of this trend.

Hmmm. I'm out of ideas. Did they use it for make-up games in the past? Seems like there haven't been a lot of rainouts this year. A stretch, but that's about all I've got.

It sure would be nice to trade some of those Sunday afternoon mid-British Open baseball games for a few more games tonight.
