You Cannot Be Serious

The man pictured on the right is hitting .219/.301/.360, and has grounded into 10 double plays.

You should see all the cringing, hand-wringing and vomiting that happens on SoSH (Red Sox fansite) whenever his at-bat comes up in a big spot.

Keith Law's opening comment on espn.com says it all: "Jason Varitek over various multicellular organisms capable of wearing a catcher's mitt", in terms of least defensible.

And here I thought this would be about CC.

Enjoy LaPorta. Oh how I already miss fantasizing about him and his stance and swing and approach which is not unlike Pujols' in the least.

It will be. I'd rather know who the second and third prospects are, but I'm not going to wait much longer.

All Star fan voting in the worst thing for baseball (and any sport for that matter). The only problem is that besides revenue dollars, the game itself is only done for the fans. Without fan voting, some interest might slip. With no interest in the game, there goes the bucks. It's really unfortunate because true fans would actually watch it if it were truly the BEST players, but there are way too many casual fans out there so they rule the day.

@black n gold:

Of course, the problem with Varitek isn't fan voting. The fans voted Joe Mauer as the starter. The players voted Varitek on to the team.

I think I'd trust baseball writers to do a better job of selecting All-Stars than players, and it hurts to say that.

Even Red Sox fans are pissed and disgusted that Varitek made it. Hilarious.
