I thought it was, but FanHouse commenter Steven F. has convinced me otherwise:
I HAVE BEEN DOWN THIS ROAD BEFORE AND BELIEVE ME THIS IS THE PERFECT SITUATION FOR THE RED SOX. THEY WILL NOT ONLY DEFEAT THE TAMPA BAY RAYS BUT THEY WILL GO ON TO WIN THE WORLD SERIES AS WELL. WHEN THE SERIES WAS TIED AT A GAME APIECE THE TEAM THAT WON THE NEXT TWO GAMES WHICH IN THIS CASE WAS TAMPA BAY LOST THE NEXT THREE BECAUSE THEY RAN OUT OF GAS. I AM CONIVNCED THAT THE RED SOX WILL WIN A CLOSE ONE AT FENWAY ON THURSDAY NIGHT AND THEN BEAT THE TAMPA BAY RAYS ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. IT WILL NOT BE EASY BUT THE SOX WILL DO IT. I KNOW THAT THEY WILL. TRUST ME, I HAVE DONE IT AS WELL AND I KNOW HOW TO DO IT. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS NEVER GIVE UP AND NEVER PANICK. A CRISIS SITUATION WILL BRING OUT THE BEST IN THE RED SOX AND THEIR FANS KNOW IT. SO SIT BACK AND RELAX AND WATCH THE DRAMA UNFOLD BEFORE YOUR VERY EYES.I told you my relationship with the AOL commenters was going to be awesome.

Just don't panick. Whatever else you do, don't panick. He's "done it as well and [he knows] how to do it."
Ahh, that last comment was mine. Go by Shabs on another forum that I post on. Now you all know my secret hidden identity. Shhhh...
"TRUST ME, I HAVE DONE IT AS WELL AND I KNOW HOW TO DO IT."
Dave Roberts, is that you?
Reminded me of this gem of internet-lore:
"WANTED: Somebody to go back in time with me. This is not a joke. P.O. Box 322 Oakview, CA 93022. You'll get paid after we get back. Must bring your own weapons. Safety not guaranteed. I have only done this once before"

Oh my, what an enjoyable game that was. The crowd shots were especially satisfying. The Sox certainly aren't out of it, but the odds are against them. Two days ago the talk on NY sports radio was how the Red Sox "looked like the Yankees", i.e. an unstoppable force that wins championships at will. Perhaps the Red Sox are learning the post-2000 lesson from the Yankees: winning the World Series is really, really hard. It's not enough to just have the best team; a bunch of breaks have to go your way and the right people have to get hot at the right time.
It's also been fun watching ultimate clutch hitter Big Papi (who I do like, actually) regress to the mean, and listen to the announcer's utter shock that the young Rays can still hit baseballs in October, despite having never "been here before".
Nothing to do now but not panick, sit back and watch the drama unfold before my very eyes, preferably in ALL CAPS.
have you even looked at the ages of Rays players?? Old man is Pena at 30!! Oldest pitcher is Shields and he's 30! Maddon has rested these players all year and two of them had the whole freakin month of September off. Crawford 5-5 last night and Longoria. Rookie HR record in the playoffs. They are not running out of gas. you may have been down this road before but no Manny and no Lowell is a huge difference here.
bottom line is the Rays are healthy and well rested. You will have to come up with something better then "running out of gas"!! I await your next mind gamke that won't work. I will not say that the series is over but what makes you think that the Sox can suddenly flip a switch against the Rays staff and start hitting? Remember the ONLY game they did win in this series was game 1 and Shields pitched just as good a game as Dice K did.
Kaz will most likely go tonight with no pressure and he pitches well in Fenway.
I say your reasoning is also full of GAS!!! insert fart sound here
My mistake Shields is only 26!!
oh boy...
bad karma
The Fanhouse is comin' here!
I was just looking at your "Phillies Win the Penant" post. These comments have to be fake, right?
"You do remind me of my son, as he thinks he is a no it all just like you."
"I agree I think this kid is still pooping in his pants or his diaper whater."
"By looking at your picture I doub't very much you remeber the times that LA played Philly and Davy Lopes was stealing bases so I will cut you some slack for the horrible article you wrote."
doub't? diaper? remeber? no it all? It's just not possible that these are real. I refuse to believe it.
I have no proof, but I'm pretty sure they are real. There's a real attack of stupidity when they're linked on the AOL Sports home page. I can't imagine what will happen when I actually write something even remotely controversial, everything so far has been pretty basic.
A "FanHouse comment of the week" feature will probably end up being necessary.
This article is even more funny after last night. Nice site, my first time here! Be easy!
