Odds On First NBA Coach To Be Fired In '08-'09

I know pretty much nothing about the NBA, but these entertain me, and there was definitely some value in the baseball odds, so here we are. From Bodog:

Who will be the first head coach fired in the NBA for the 2008-2009 Season?

Lawrence Frank (NJN), 6/1
Sam Mitchell (TOR), 5/1
Mike Brown (CLE), 7/1
Mark Ivaroni (MEM), 5/1
Eddie Jordan (WAS), 8/1
George Karl (DEN), 5/1
Randy Wittman (MIN), 3/1
Field (Any Other Coach), 5/2

  1. Obviously, they have gone more conservative than 30/1. Nothing is screaming to me quite yet...

  2. I think Mike Woodson should be one of the favorites to get fired. The Hawks think they have a playoff team, they probably don't, and the team plays 14 of their first 22 games on the road followed by a long (8-game, 16-day) homestand. If they start 10-20 or so, I think (fingers crossed) Woodson finally gets relieved of his duties.

  3. I agree with Bret. Don't know how Woodson isn't up there.

  4. long time reader, first time poster.

woodson's omission is bewildering though he's unlikely to be fired - ownership is so cheap they don't want to pay him out. i'd take eddie jordan.

bodog has a bunch of bets that pop. if i trusted then, i'd drop a load. here's the picks i love:

    paul piece over 19.5 pts
    oden under 26.5 pts rebs
    vince carter over 22 ppg
    andre miller under 16.5 ppg
    al horford over 11 ppg
beasley under 8.5 rebs per game
    kevin martin over 24ppg

keep up the great work. i enjoy reading.

  5. Seems like the best place to stick this, from Simmons' column today:

"H. Vegas sweating out the 10-to-1 odds for Jose Calderon to win the assist title. What were they thinking? Way too high! Put $1,000 on Chris Paul (6 to 5 odds) and $200 on Calderon and you're guaranteed to win $1,000 this year."

Calderon is now down to 13/2 at Bodog, of course.
