This Week's Links (10/6-10/10)

Well, hopefully this goes better than the previous site news. Starting, well, now, I'm going to be writing for FanHouse; mostly the MLB portion, but some NFL stuff as well. As always, nothing will change here; it's not like they'd allow this nonsense over there anyway. I've added what amounts to an RSS feed of my FanHouse stuff on the left sidebar; you can also subscribe yourself here. My first post is here; I would recommend skipping the post itself and going straight to the comments. Off to a fantastic start.

StatSpeak's Pizza Cutter put together the "renegade BBWAA awards", which I participated in. Ryan Howard received zero votes.

MoneyLine applies an article on the current financial crisis to sports wagering. Great stuff.

"If there were a guarantee that the Dow would be at 13,000 on Monday, Nov. 24, if Ohio State loses to Michigan on Nov. 22, would you make that deal?" Before you click, guess how many Ohioans voted "No". Guess high.

Nate Silver on the Colbert Report. I don't want to spoil it, but the Palin line in the baseball analogy is pretty good.

Free Zachary Sharples.

58% is high? I was expecting no less than 70%.

What? No picture of you for the FanHouse posts? I was at least hoping for a mugshot of Ryuji Imada or Justin Leonard. That would surely get your potential commenters all riled up.

I admit that I voted no. If you aren't near retirement, it makes a lot more sense to be able to invest in the market when it is low. If it jumps back above 13k, I will have not taken advantage of the low price stocks (401k). Plus, I'd get to watch OSU beat Michigan again. Seems like a good deal to me.

I took FanHouse out of my Google Reader this past week. Just when I thought I was out, THEY PULLED ME BACK IN!

Eric- I'll get to the picture, I just haven't had time. It's a big decision, I don't want to screw it up.

How do you feel about Pizza Cutter saying pitchers shouldn't win the MVP because "they have their own award?" That's exactly the kind of stupidity the writers practice all the time. Doesn't sound very renegade-y to me.

/still angry about Pedro in 1999.
