"MVP picks that may surprise you". Only if you expected competence. Which would've been unreasonable.
The voting for BPro's Internet Baseball Awards is now open.
I hadn't realized that the Rays had the lowest BA w/RISP in the league. I had noticed that the Twins got absurdly lucky.
Grant Balfour is awesome:
Q: What happened after you struck [Cabrera] out?Did Tony Pena Jr. have the worst offensive season ever?
Balfour: I told him to go sit down. I think I might have mixed one or two words in with it.

Tony Pena Jr. should really be a pitcher.
So K-Rod is AL MVP, but third in AL Cy Young according Heyman...really? People work hard in life to get good jobs...like really Heyman? You made it to Sports Illustrated? Like, really?
At what point does luck become skill though I wonder? The Twins high BA with RISP was identified as a reason for their surprising early season success. That was months ago. They continued to have that success and ended the season pretty much where they started.
Intuitively, it doesn't make sense to me that that sort of situational hitting could be a skill, but the Twins did not ever regress to the mean so now I am confused.
There's always next year.
People thought that Seattle had that as a skill, too. Oops.
