He didn't play a lick of defense toward the end of the season, and settled for too many threes.

They get a healthy (and experienced) Eric Devendorf back, along with a bulked up Andy Rautins to replace Green's offense.

Throw in returning starters Paul Harris, Arinze Onuaku, Jonny Flynn (the best of them all), and Kristof! and you've got a solid team.

Plus they are adding top 50 recruits Mookie Jones and Kris Joseph (look him up on YouTube)... Syracuse could be the surprise team in the Big East if Jim Boeheim remembers how to coach (and that's a big IF).Scott Isaacshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14956724460296058589noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7965585998403674176.post-52903303043707620052008-05-01T13:48:00.000-04:002008-05-01T13:48:00.000-04:00Pretty surprised no mention of Syracuse. They have the co BE rookie of the year and a preseason Big East 1st teamer coming back.

I guess a lot hinges on what Donte Green eveetually does, but even if he stays in the draft, I think Syracuse could crack the top 5 of this conference. Gtown loses arguably their 3 best players.rs27http://www.blogger.com/profile/10921631514980980229noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7965585998403674176.post-16156336417615294432008-04-29T09:04:00.000-04:002008-04-29T09:04:00.000-04:00Yeah, I probably should have included them with Ma...Yeah, I probably should have included them with Marquette/Syracuse- I just figured Alexander would leave. Seems like the time to cash in on his late season run. And if they lose him and Nichols (graduating), they won't be that good.

Is that Kevin Jones guy good? He's only 73rd on the Rivals list. I have no idea. This is why I hate recruiting.

I haven't see anything about where Macklin will end up.Vegas Watchhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02353166004125421683noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7965585998403674176.post-57278464989574362052008-04-29T04:09:00.000-04:002008-04-29T04:09:00.000-04:00I'm surprised at no mention of West Virginia. They also have some big time PF recruit coming in. Also, any word on where Macklin is going?Aramnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7965585998403674176.post-80722064196245802662008-04-28T21:21:00.000-04:002008-04-28T21:21:00.000-04:00It's for that reason that I'm rethinking this UCon...It's for that reason that I'm rethinking this UConn bet. 20:1 is only worth it if you think they're going to be a 1 seed, really. In any other conference I'd feel comfortable with that, but there's just so much competition here.Vegas Watchhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02353166004125421683noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7965585998403674176.post-75054284158979653922008-04-28T21:18:00.000-04:002008-04-28T21:18:00.000-04:00The BE is going to be incredible next year. Any Hoyas fan worth his salt know that Macklin struggled mightily with running the intracacies of the Princeton offense (guy literally looked like he was thinking too much on the floor). Macklin is athletic and likes to run the floor...which rarely happened in the timing oriented offense JT3 had installed on the Hilltop. Macklin is the type of guy who, against inferior opposition, can put up big numbers (like against the small frontcourt of Davidson). But against bigger foes (like those of the Big East), Macklin was invisible. Furthermore, the guy was, at one point during the season, 6 for 32 from the line. Now there's someone who can not be on the floor the last 3 minutes of any close game, right?

This is addition by subtraction for the Hoyas. Macklin might the first McDonald's All-American to work at McDonald's after graduation.DCThrowbackhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02595347138052680931noreply@blogger.com
