But as a former baseball executive, the suggestion that he's anything but qualified to sit on a panel of Hall of Fame voters is ridiculous. And I'll say this: I'm a sportswriter, and if anything, attending games and spending time around players and coaches actually clouds a writer's judgment in what has become (and, frankly, should be) a strictly on-the-field evaluation.
